Baby's Birth Day
I awoke Saturday morning not feeling quite like myself. After debating for an hour if I should call out sick or not I decided to call out sick and stay home. All day I just lounged and felt tightening in my stomach, was this it? Never having experienced labor before I wasn't sure, until about 6 o'clock that night. I started to feel contractions about every 5 minutes I called the Labor and Delivery to ask if we should come in. They told me to come in just to get checked out. Once in the hospital and changed into the lovely gown they supply I was standing waiting for the nurse to come back and asked Orlando to go ask her if I could pee first. As he began to walk out the door I feel water running down my leg! "My water just broke, my water just broke Go tell her my water broke! At least I'm pretty sure I didn't just pee on myself". Orlando goes to find the nurse who comes into test the fluid and she proceeds to tell us she didn't get a strong read that it was amniotic fluid. Upon further investigation, It IS amniotic and she says "Looks like you'll be staying here, your having a baby"

One hour later, the baby is on its way, I was dilated to a 10. But, yes but, the baby wasn't dropping so we increased pictosin and waited 2hours, not much change. Once we rotated the position I was in we were ready to push within the hour.
We were moments away from meeting our baby. After pushing for 1/2 hour the baby arrived.
"Its a girl!" Dad cried, and there she was on my tummy, not in, on. How amazing. Of coarse we cried and smiled and laughed. Just writing this makes me tear up, how luck to have brought this beauty into the world!

Talk about music to our ears the most amazing event in our lives was about to take place! Orlando and I hug and get ready to make the move to our Delivery room!! We then call the 2 grandmas and tell them we are having a baby and to come to the hospital.
Outside as we are breathing thru contractions and anticipating the baby it is snowing outside, the first snow this fall. I keep looking outside and trying to think peaceful thoughts thru surges, the snow helps. After 13 hours of labor and dilated to a 7 for 2 hours, I truly feel I can't go on. The nurse tells me they will want to start pictosin to increase the contractions and I can't imagine the feeling of pictosin induced contractions, when they seem just bad enough alone. I caved in and asked for the epidural---My birth plan for a totally natural birth down the drain! I know that I wasn't following my ideal plan but don't feel bad about the decision. Once my doctor got to the room to check me she said the baby was "sunny side up" so that was probably the reason I was not continuing to dilate, she turned the baby around-thank goodness for the epidural, don't wanna know what that would have felt like. At this point we called Orlando's sisters and Erika to come to the hospital to witness the birth.
